Project Description

As part of an emergency contract, WDOH contracted with Randolph Engineering to provide inspection and access services for sixteen (16) bridges located in District 6, which includes the Northern Panhandle of West Virginia.

The bridge types ranged from short pre-stressed concrete bridges on rural roadways to welded steel plate girder bridges on Interstate routes. This contract included single and multi-span bridges that spanned creeks, roadways, and major Interstate highways.

Five of the larger bridges in this contract included:
• Eastbound and Westbound ramp bridges to the Weirton-Steubenville Cable Stayed Bridge
• Eastbound and Westbound I-70 Bridges at the Mt. DeChantal Exit
• I-470 Westbound bridge near the I-70/I-470 split.

Inspection reports, complete with color photographs, condition sketches, a summary of findings, and recommendations, were generated for each bridge and submitted electronically into their database.
