Working closely with Edward Tucker Architects, Inc., we provided professional design services for the design of the structural framing and foundation system for the addition of an all-purpose gymnasium to the existing school building. The two-story facility utilized an open web steel joist framing system supported on a combination of masonry walls and steel columns.
A unique and challenging feature of this project was the inclusion of a 60′ indoor pedestrian bridge that was used to frame the entrance of the playing arena. Randolph Engineering provided a design for a welded tubular truss that was aesthetically pleasing and was to be pre-fabricated and set in place as a single unit.
Additional responsibilities included shop drawing review and construction consultation.
